BACK FROM BRUNEI

I'm baaaack!
Brunei was, well, macam pegi rumah sepupu aje, bih kurang sama je ngan kat sini :-)
<--- Anak damit (baby/infant in Bruneispeak)

Anak domok - chubby kid, hahah :-) --->

Seriously, si Haziq ni dah tembam sekarang heheh dah domok!

Anyway, we didn't get to do many things during the trip, because the kids were a bit unwell, and my bro-inlaw was tied up in meetings in the mornings. We stayed at his colleague's rented house in Kiarong, 6-room bungalow, so the kids were running all over the house, letih aku mengejar.

For iftar, it's food galore at the pasar ramadhan, mostly we went to Pasar Gadong. It's lamb heaven here! Depa suka makan kambing, so syok la dok beli lamb steak hari-hari, yang takdak jual kat pasar ramadhan Kelana Jaya ni. Banyak juga kuih yang first time aku jumpa. Aku geram tengok ikan bakar, banyak betul dijual dan murah pulak tu.

Sempat jugak survey pasar biasa. Hansac, petai nampak sama je ngan kat Semenanjung la :-)

Tapi durian, memang lain la, buahnya kecik, duri halus & panjang, isi warna merah. The aroma is different, and the taste is certainly different. Tapi aku tak pelik la, sebab aku dah pernah jumpa masa gi Sarawak dulu, in fact some of the fruits kat situ ada labels 'dari Miri' including the durian and the membangan. We bought some buah tarap too, nice! Hmm... foodstuff nampak murah dari di KL. For example secekak sawi bunga yang aku beli kat pasar tani sini dengan harga RM2.00, kat sana baru B50sen, which is quivelant to RM1.15.

Masjid tersergam indah, dengan kubah emas

One thing yang obvious sangat sal appearance kat sana, is that all signboards must have a jawi version. I bet Anita Roddick could never imagine her shop to have the signboard spelt ba-wau-dal-ya shim-wau-pa hehehe :-) MacDonalds lagi la panjang ejaannya.

Oh, first time aku lalu depan restoran ni, kat banner dia tulis 'Sungkai Buffet', and I thought the restaurant owner was a Malaysian hailing from Sungkai, Perak. Ghopenye, sungkai tu is berbuka puasa hehehe.

First time also tasted ambuyat, masa berbuka di restoran Andaman. I guess it takes some getting used to la, although it was fun to twirl the 'stick' in the ambuyat mixture hehehe :-) Aku ni asyik cakap sal makan je kan? Anyway, aku rasa belacan kat sana sedap, so aku hangkut balik a few packets. I guess it must be the shrimp in those areas la, sebab sebelum ni pun aku dok beli belacan Miri yang memang sedap (pada aku lar) dari belacan di sini.

Anyway, we had a relaxing time there. So relaxed is the life, sampai aku jadik tension dalam keta. Yelah, dah biasa ngan driver KL yang brutal, bila jumpa driver sopan-santun kat sana, nak keluar simpang pun ala-ala lemah-gemalai, rasa rimas plak hahaha :-)

Punyalah tak sibuk, check out the pc screen kat kaunter imigresen hehehe :-)

The people... oh the few that I met and spoke to, are so warm and friendly mah! And very sopan, tak intrusive and tak sesuka hati je tanya soalan personal. Yelah, kalau kat sini, baru 5 minutes into the conversation, mesti dah keluar soalan cepumas "dah kawin? anak berapa? oh kenapa tak kawin lagi?"

The sky looked great from my window on the flight back. I am a bit relaxed as compared to last week. Thank you, Brunei Darussalam :-)

Reminds me of the Muscat-based, mainly Indian employee contractor that we worked together in Brunei, years ago.
